Terms of Service

Last updated: June 28, 2026

By using bffbot you agree to these terms. bffbot is a personal journaling service you use by text message.

Your account

Your account is tied to your phone number; sign-in is passwordless (a one-time link/code texted to you). Keep access to your number secure; anyone who controls it can reach your journal.

Acceptable use

Use bffbot for your own personal journaling. Don’t use it to harass others, send unlawful content, or abuse the service.

Not medical, legal, or emergency advice

bffbot is a journaling companion, not a therapist, doctor, or emergency service, and its replies are automated (rule-based, not AI). Nothing it says is professional advice. We do not monitor or review your messages in real time, and no one is standing by to respond to an emergency. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

Subscriptions & billing

bffbot offers a free trial followed by a paid subscription (currently $40/year). Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each year until you cancel; cancel anytime from your account (Manage subscription) or by texting CANCEL. Cancellation stops future renewals; we don’t provide prorated refunds for the current period.

SMS Messaging Terms

This section governs the bffbot text-message program.

Disclaimer & liability

bffbot is provided “as is,” without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the prior 12 months.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms and will post changes here with a new date. Questions: [email protected].
